The maps are cached as they are downloaded, so you can continue to use them as long as you've already accessed them on-line. > Is there a specific file type that I can download? I can't find a geo file, > just shape files. I have 600 gigabytes of storage, so I am not worried > about space, even though I only want a specific area. Do I need any > additional libraries or packages for xastir to work with offline Open > Street Maps? It's a violation of the OSM terms of use to do mass downloads of tiles. The author of APRSISCE32 had his software temporarily blacklisted by OSM servers during a time when it was somehow overzealously downloading tiles. So don't do anything that would cause Xastir to cache enormous numbers of files all at once, or try to do in a script. The shapefile approach is much better, though the maps won't look as pretty. -- Tom Russo KM5VY SAR502 DM64ux http://www.swcp.com/~russo/ Tijeras, NM QRPL#1592 K2#398 SOC#236 http://kevan.org/brain.cgi?DDTNM echo "prpv_a'rfg_cnf_har_cvcr" | sed -e 's/_/ /g' | tr [a-m][n-z] [n-z][a-m] _______________________________________________ Xastir mailing list [email protected] http://xastir.org/mailman/listinfo/xastir
