As far as adding a "landmark": If all you want are aid stations, then you can add objects or items to your map (make sure to turn off transmit of objects/items if you won't want to be sending them out to everyone else) using the right-click mouse menu. Just click on the location where you want it (zoom in as much as you want first), then right click, create object or item, name it, choose a symbol, add a comment if you like, and it will show up shortly on your map. If you need to move them a little bit later, you can drag them to a new position (and delete the track if the track between the two positions bothers you). If you DON'T turn off transmit of these, they'll show up on everyone else's APRS maps as well. Be careful to use unique names so people elsewhere in the world aren't fighting you for position of objects/items of the same name. Even if you're only using local RF, there's probably an igate that will gate them into the internet...
