Thanks guys. I finally did find a way to do it, but had to do a search
with different key word(s).
sudo adduser username dialout
That did the trick. It's that old adage, "if you don't use it, you lose
it". I have gotten quite rusty with my linux because I seldom use it.
I was helping another local ham install Linux Mint on his PC, then
xastir for setting up an iGate. I could open the ttyS0 with minicom,
but not xastir. I knew it was a permissions problem, but.... memory
(or lack thereof)... lol
