Thanks Tom. Was trying to see if I could get somewhere with the stupid Gnu Root Debian with the XSDL X-Windows server on my various flavors of Nexus 7's. As I've mentioned before, GRD and XSDL runs on top of Android, gpsd works with the Android program "Share GPS" (exceptaltitude doesn't come across) for local position, a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse paired on the Android side is passed on to this "Linux" system as is the WiFi connection that is currently active on the Android side. Data from the cell internet data link is passed also when elected to use. One doesn't have "permission" to delve into the /dev directory or even find out what the "name" is of the B/T attached mouse and/or keyboard.I can pair B/T peripherals like a Mobilinkd or AP510 on the Android side and can't find the device on the "Linux"/GRD side as can be had with a B/T mouse or keyboard. Soooooo, frustrating! I've tried /dev/rfcomm"x" and no dice. Don't know of any other names I could try to designate an attached B/T TNC. I've asked the author about this but only thing I got in reply was that B/T mice and keyboards worked.I would'a thought he would have explained in simple terms why or why not the system can "see" other attached B/T devices. Nonetheless, I plopped some of the old Tiger or Cloudmade maps in and fire up Xastir with an -IS connection and works great. I like using online mapslayered with the Cloudmade or Tiger streets. Looks nice zoomed out. The other thing is with Xastir on an Android tablet in this fashion I've been ableto nicely get one finger touch screen manipulation. Never been able to be without a mouse before but on the Nexus 7 it's easily doable. (Didn't work worth a darn when I diddled with the settings on a rooted Blu phone and had to use a B/T keyboard and you guessed it a B/T mouseto get it to work. I ditched it because the Android distro wouldn't let me move the storage hogging GRD/XSDL app to the microSD card. It didfine with the mouse and keyboard but not much of the phone storage was left so I made it gone!) Heck, even a Nexus 2012 3G works a heck of a lot better speedwise than a Pocket Chip. The Pocket Chip can be a full on Jessie Distro and I believea single threaded CPU. I have to run Xastir as root in order to get it to work with iffy B/T connections but it does work once the long wait for the Tigeror Cloudmade maps to paint is done. Again, I can only get B/T peripherals to pair when running as root and I have to use one of those hand heldRf mice to control the screen. An N7 2013 LTE is faster still running GRD/XSDL and Xastir. I don't see too many responses to the Git-hub questions on GRD so I don't think many folks run GRD/XSDL that much. There is a learning curve to get it up but heck, that's what the internet and search engines are for. Any script kiddie can get stuff to run that way.
