It all comes down to the license of the various project's code. If it's GPL, they can't "own" it.

Anyway.. it's done.  Sounds like they bought them:

Does that mean after assimulation that all software on there will have
ms backdoors??
Or will they say all software on here is now owned by us?

There are other alternatives to github.
