Because you can not release anything in maven which has SNAPSHOT dependency. If the 1.0 is in a usable state, we can use it, else we need to ensure that Genesis will be released before next xbean release.

I don't know how good/bad it is, but since it's part of Geronimo build it won't disappear very soon and I assume it will be constantly enhanced/improved (esp. when only Jason is willing to tweak it and it's his baby ;-)).
