If you want you can check out the source code here: https://github.com/SteveRidout/csl-editor It would be nice to see a user friendly implementation of this idea. Aside from the direct benefit, it could collect formatted citation data for styles which don't yet exist, help identify bugs in the existing styles, and help to crowd source a large test suite of formatted styles.
