Looking over the 4.2.7 sources, I see that -lXt is in the LIBS, and
4.2.7 works.
Perhaps order matters. Here's the LIBS line in my 4.2.7 makefile:
LIBS = -lXaw3d -lXmu -lXt -lXext \
-lXpm -lSM -lICE -lX11 -lm
I think I've hit my knowledge limit on this-- I'm glad we found the
issue, but I'm not convinced I know enough to recommend the proper solution.
What works on my system:
removing -lXt
placing -lXt after the -lXaw3d or -lXaw library
