[XBoard-devel] compiling master branch now fails [solutions added to git]

I pulled from the latest git master branch and noticed 2 compiling 
problems.  I've corrected them both in git.

After building, it came up as 4.4.0.  I thought this was going to be 
4.4.1.  I don't really care, I'm just alerting you guys.  I'm happy to 
build winboard once the version is settled.
