I think this would be a good point to do a new developer release, (or at least prepare one by tying up any remaining loose ends).
The tournament function seems to completely work as intended now, and is a major extension of the capabilities of XBoard. The internationalization also seems to have settled down. I followed Tim's advice to check wih "locale -a", and it turned out I had nothing but English on my system. After installing nine other languages, I could run German and Turkish, after I figured out I needed .utf8 as part of the locale name. The others did not work, however. Are they disabled? If so, how do I enable them, for testing? There is a bad cosmetic problem if the menu bar gets wider than the board. This problem is not specific to translatons; due to the menu reorganization the English version also suffers from it in some sizes. And I suppose it could be made to suffer in even more sizes by setting a larger font size. Not sure what to do about it, but of course people plagued by it can combat the problem by specifying a smaller font size. The "tiny layout" solution of printing only the first character of each item is also pretty ugly. So for now I simply want to leave it. The tournament function and XBoard internationalization together represent such a maor stride forwards, that we should perhaps consider releasing them as 4.6.0, once we have had some more testing of it, and everything we have now works to perfection.
