[XBoard-devel] v4.9.x bugfixes

Since the release of XBoard 4.9.0 a number of bugs has come up, some 
pretty serious. I have fixed these now, and committed the fixes to the 
v4.9.x branch on Savannah.

Perhaps we should do a 4.9.1 bugfix release at this point.
