In the Athena widget set you are supposed to select the meu item by the
release of the mouse button. Note that the Xaw version of XBoard has
been phased out a few years ago, since the version based on the more
modern GTK widget set has been declared stable. The GTK menus behave
more like one nowadays expects from menus.

Linux Mint 17, and was looking for a simple chess program, that i
could use practice with. So looked in Synaptic and found xboard
and I like it to a point. But when I click on a menu item the
drop down list won't stay put, so I can review its contents. Do
you have a fix for this? Or a newer version? I also installed
Fair-max but that didn't seem to help.
