ABR/CCSAA MIDWEST  GROOMING CLINIC & SHOW
JANUARY 24th and 25th,  2001

The CLINIC/SHOW:
This clinic is designed to gather cross country ski trail groomers
(experienced and inexperienced) and vendors to share ideas and demo
equipment for grooming cross country ski trails. The clinic will  include
equipment demonstration, technique demonstration, seminars,  discussion and
hands on grooming. We have had interest from over 12 equipment suppliers
including a new twin track snowmobile with a pull behind power tiller.

Who should attend?
People who groom cross country ski trails or who want to groom xc ski
trails,
Why you should attend?
There will be a collection of  grooming machines and grooming implements to
demo, there will be groomers from around the Midwest to compare notes with,
including some of the most experienced groomers.

LOCATION:
ABR Ski Trails in Ironwood Michigan. Ironwood is located on the western
boundary of the Upper Peninsula on the Wisconsin border and the area is
called" Big Snow Country". We receive an average of 250 inches of snow a
year and we typically ski from early November until April.  We have received
over 8 feet of snow so far this year!




SCHEDULE:
Wednesday  Jan 24th
8-9   Introduction, coffee and rolls  & tour of facilities
9-12  Grooming demonstrations by vendors (on snow)
  12-1   Lunch at ABR, provided by ABR
1-3  Lectures:Snowcat grooming costs, times to groom, grooming for races,
trail layout  for grooming, tilling vs. drags, general maintenance and
safety
3-6  Snowcat hands-on grooming  and open skiing

Thursday   Jan 25th
8-10   Coffee and rolls and heated indoor display of grooming attachments
and    grooming snowmobiles
10-12  Snowmobile  powered grooming demonstrations (on snow)   12-1  Lunch
at ABR
1-3  Lectures: Snowmobile grooming costs, snowmobile selection, early season
grooming, deep snow grooming, hard pack grooming,  grooming with
tractors,  when not to groom,
3-4  Show and tell - bring your secret grooming weapon and show us how it
works. In the clinic evaluation, at the end, we will vote on the best idea
with the winner receiving a prize and recognition in the write up.
4-5  Hands on grooming and open skiing

Schedule may be adjusted based on weather and equipment availability

REGISTRATION
Pre-register via mail or at  ABR Trails up to January 10th. 2001.Participant
admission is $45 per person for 1 day and $60 for both days. Late
registration add $20..

CONCESSIONS
Light concessions including hot and cold drinks, cookies and bars and
pasties, pizza and sandwiches will be available at no charge for lunch.
