CROSS COUNTRY SKI TRAIL REPORT
January 5, 2001
CURRENT WEATHER: Temps. moderate in the high 20s near 30.
FORECAST: Continued highs in the 20s. Chance of light snow Saturday and Sunday.
ABR TRAILS - Ironwood, MI Trails
All trails groomed on 1/3. Additional 3-4" snow on Wed. Skate lanes regroomed and tracks re-set on 1/4. Regular new snows have conrtibuted to a 20" base. Conditions: Excellent.
AFTERHOURS CROSS COUNTRY SKI TRAIL - Brule, WI
Groomed on 1/4. Track set on 1/5. Conditions: Excellent.
AMERICAN BIRKEBEINER TRAIL - Cable/Seeley/Hayward, WI
The entire trail was groomed and tracked on Jan.4. Conditions: Excelent.
The American Birkebeiner Trail will be groomed with every three inches of fresh snowfall. The trail will also be groomed every Thursday for weekend skiing. It should be noted that anticipated snowfall could change this grooming schedule based on the Trail Supervisor's discretion.
ASHLAND SKI TRAIL - Ashland, WI
(1/5) "Skied-up, but in good shape."
BALSAM BRANCH CROSS COUNTRY SKI TRAILS - Amery, WI
Groomed 1/2. Conditions: Very Good.
BEAVER BROOK SKI TRAI - Spooner, WI
Due to erosion from logging, this ski area will have minimum grooming for classic skiing. Ski jouring, backcountry and snowshoeing permited, but please respect the tracks.
BLUE HILLS TRAIL - Bruce, WI
The entire trail system was groomed Friday, December 29. This produced very good conditions with an inch of powder on a packed powder base which have held up well through the holiday weekend.
CEDAR TRAIL - Gurney, WI
Groomed 12/28. Conditions: Good.
COON LAKE TRAIL - Fredric, WI
Groomed 1/5. Conditions: Very Good.
COPPER FALLS STATE PARK - Mellen, WI
Groomed and tracked on 1/1. Some trails closed due to blowdown trees from windstorms earlier this year. Conditions: Very Good.
DOUGLAS COUNTY SKI TRAILS - Solon Springs, WI

DRUMMOND SKI TRAILS - Drummond, WI
All trails groomed and tracked on 1/5. Conditions: Excellent.
FISH HATCHERY PARK - Hayward, WI

FLAMBEAU HILLS SKI TRAILS - Price County, WI
Groomed on 1/3 and tracked 12/22 and on 12/29. Conditions: Very Good.
HAYWARD HOSPITAL SKI TRAILS - Hayward, WI
Groomed on 1/2. Conditions: Good to Excellent.
HAYWARD GOLF COURSE - Hayward, WI
Groomed on 1/3. Conditions: Good to Excellent, tracks may be wind blown/drifted.
HOLY CROSS SKI TRAILS - Phillips, WI
Groomed on 12/29. Condiitions: Very Good.
INTERSTATE PARK TRAILS - St. Croix Falls, WI
Groomed - Skyline - 1/4, others 12/29. Conditions: Good.
LADYSMITH HIGH SCHOOL LIGHTED XC TRAIL - Ladysmith, WI
The LHS Trail was groomed in the evening on January 2nd. A track for diagonal striding was set. Conditions are very good. The lights are on from dusk to 10:00 p.m. daily.
LEISURE LAKE TRAIL - Trego, WI
Groomed and track set on 12/31. Conditions: Very good.
LOG JAM TRAIL - Phillips, WI
Groomed for skating on 12/29. Tracked on 12/27. Conditions: Very Good. Note: The Log Jam Ski Race will take place on Sunday, Jan. 7.
LOST LAND LAKE TRAILS - Hayward, WI

LUTHER HILLS - Minong, WI
All trails groomed and tracked on 1/3. Conditions: Very Good.
MECCA TRAILS - Mercer, WI
Groomed Tuesday, 1/2. Trails have a solid 6" firm base. 20K of tracks set and 12k of skating groomed. Conditions: Excellent. Try Trail Head "B" off Beachway road for excellent Classical trails in the woods.
MONTREAL TRAIL - Montreal, WI
Groomed and tracked 12/23. Conditions: Very Good.
MT. VALHALLA - VALKYRIE AND TEUTON SKI TRAILS - Washburn, WI

WINTERGREEN SKI TRAILS - Price County, WI
Trails packed and tracked on 12/29 and to be groomed again on 1/6. Conditions: Very Good .
WOLVERINE NORDIC - Ironwood, MI
Grooming is being done every day. 17km groomed for skating and striding. Conditions are still soft for skating, but should stiffen with colder temps forecast. 18" base with 108" of snow to date. Conditions: Excellent.
