CROSS COUNTRY SKI TRAIL REPORT
January 14, 2001
CURRENT WEATHER: Temps. moderate in thehigh 20s. Light snow.
FORECAST: 1-2" and possibly as much as 2 - 4" of light snow. Temps remaining in high 20s.

All trails groomed on 1/13. Conditions: Excellent.
AFTERHOURS CROSS COUNTRY SKI TRAIL Brule, WI
Groomed on 1/4. Track set on 1/5. Conditions: Excellent at that time.
* AMERICAN BIRKEBEINER TRAIL Cable/Seeley/Hayward, WI
1/13 - conditions firm and fast in the morning, more powdery in mid afternoon.Conditions: Very Good.
* ASHLAND SKI TRAIL Ashland, WI
(1/13) Despite the warm weather and rain. the trail is groomed and tracked and in good condition.
BALSAM BRANCH CROSS COUNTRY SKI TRAILS Amery, WI
Groomed 1/2. Conditions: Very Good at that time
BEAVER BROOK SKI TRAIL Spooner, WI
Due to erosion from logging, this ski area will have minimum grooming for classic skiing. Ski jouring, backcountry skiing and snowshoeing are permited, but please respect the tracks.
BLUE HILLS TRAIL Bruce, WI
The entire trail system was groomed Friday, December 29, 2000, and the skating lane was rolled in preparation for the Blue Hills Ascent this past Sunday. The trail continues to be in very good condition following the race.
COON LAKE TRAIL Fredric, WI
Groomed 1/5. Conditions: Very Good at that time.
COPPER FALLS STATE PARK Mellen, WI
Groomed and tracked. Some trails closed due to blowdown trees from windstorms earlier this year. Conditions: Good at that time.

Conditions: Fair to Poor.
*LADYSMITH HIGH SCHOOL LIGHTED XC TRAIL Ladysmith, WI
The LHS trail surface was retextured during thaw conditions on 1-13. As the snow refroze that evening there was fast skating on a corduroy surface but overly fast, glazed tracks. As of 8:00 a.m. on 1-14, one inch of new snow has fallen, making for very good conditions for skating and striding. The trail will be regroomed today if there is an appreciably greater snow accumulation. .

Groomed on 1/7 . Conditions: Excellent at that time.

(1/13) All trails groomed and tracked on 1/3. Conditions: Tracks slightly glazed, skate lanes good.
MECCA TRAILS Mercer, WI
Groomed Monday, 1/8 with 4-5" of fresh snow. Excellent conditions with 6-8" base in the woods and 20K track set along with 12K of firm skating. All trails will be groomed again on Friday 1/12.
MONTREAL TRAIL Montreal, WI
Groomed and tracked regularly or after 4" of new snow. Conditions: Excellent.
MT. VALHALLA VALKYRIE AND TEUTON SKI TRAILS Washburn, WI
Trails groomed 12/29. Conditions: Good at that time.
MT. ASHWABAY SKI TRAILS Bayfield, WI
Conditions: Poor. Trails closed til colder weather or more snow.

Plan to set tracks today in the classic lane on 1/12 if conditions are not too warm.Conditions: Skating - Excellent; Classical - Good.

rails groomed and tracked on 1/6 and to be groomed again on 1/11. Conditions: Excellent at that time.

Groomed on 1/5. Conditions: Excellent at that time.
NORTH END TRAILS Cable, WI
3.5km and 6 km loops packed and tracked on 12/27. About 2" fresh powder over packed base. Conditions: Good. 10km loop not open.
OXBO SKI TRAIL Price County, WI
Groomed and tracked on 1/9. Conditions: Excellent at that time.

SUPERIOR MUNICIPAL FOREST Superior, WI
Trails tracked and groomed. All trails open, some bare spots. Yellow trail in the best condition.
* TELEMARK SKI TRAILS Cable, WI
XC trails open: 15; Total kilometers: 55 New snow: 1"; Packed base: 5 - 7"; Trackset: 54 K; Skate groomed: 46 Km Conditions: Excelletn - Fast, firm, no ice.
A shuttle service is available leaving Telemark at 11:00am. on Saturday morning, and arriving at 00 at 11:30. The driver waits until 11:45 before heading back up to Telemark.

Trails remain in good condition despite some mist and warm conditions.
TIMM'S HILL/HIGHPOINT SKI TRAILS Ogema, WI
Groomed and tracked on 1/9. Conditions: Excellent at that time.

Has not required new grooming. Waiting until warmer temps pass.
