CROSS COUNTRY SKI TRAIL REPORT
January 18, 2001
CURRENT WEATHER: Temps. around 20. About one inch of new snow.
FORECAST: Temps remaining in mid teens to high near 20. Slight chance of snow for Sunday. Warming next week to 20s.
ABR TRAILS - Ironwood, MI
All trails groomed on 1/16 after still more new snow. Trails are groomed daily. Conditions: Excellent.
AFTERHOURS SKI TRAIL - Brule River State Forest - Brule, WI
Groomed and tracked on 1/18. The trail system is in excellent condition.
AMERICAN BIRKEBEINER TRAIL - Cable/Seeley/Hayward, WI
Skiing conditions are excellent. The Hayward and Cable areas received 4-5" of fresh snow Sunday. We are anticipating more snow throughout the week. On Sunday night the trail was packed and tracked from "OO" north to McNaught Road. Monday evening the trail was packed and tracked from "OO" south to the Duffy Building.
Note: The Seeley Classic will take place on Saturday, Jan. 20. The trail will remain open during the race, but racers will be using the tracks from OO south 11km and OO north 10km. Race start: 10:00AM.
ASHLAND SKI TRAIL - Ashland, WI
The trail has been groomed and tracked and in good condition.
BALSAM BRANCH CROSS COUNTRY SKI TRAILS - Amery, WI
Groomed 1/2. Conditions: Very Good at that time
BEAVER BROOK SKI TRAIL - Spooner, WI
Groomed on 1/15. Conditions: Good. Due to erosion from logging, this ski area will have minimum grooming for classic skiing. Ski jouring, backcountry skiing and snowshoeing are permited, but please respect the tracks.
BLUE HILLS TRAIL - Bruce, WI
The entire trail system was groomed on Jan. 16. Conditions: Excellent.
COON LAKE TRAIL - Fredric, WI
Groomed 1/15. Conditions: Very Good.
COPPER FALLS STATE PARK - Mellen, WI
Conditions: Fair due to alternately melting and freezing. New snow should have improved conditions. Some trails closed due to blowdown trees from windstorms earlier this year. Conditions: Good at that time.
DOUGLAS COUNTY SKI TRAIL - Solon Springs, WI
Groomed on 1/9. To be groomed again on 1/18 or 1/19. Conditions: Good.
DRUMMOND SKI TRAILS - Drummond, WI
Groomed and tracked on 1/16. Scheduled to be groomed again on 1/19. Conditions: Very good.
FISH HATCHERY PARK - Hayward, WI
Groomed on 1/16. Conditions: Very Good.
FLAMBEAU HILLS SKI TRAILS - Price County, WI
Groomed and tracked on 1/16. Conditions: Excellent .
HAYWARD HOSPITAL SKI TRAILS - Hayward, WI
Groomed on 1/16. Conditions: Very Good.
HAYWARD GOLF COURSE - Hayward, WI
Groomed on 1/18. Conditions: Very Good.
HOLY CROSS SKI TRAILS - Phillips, WI
Groomed on 1/8 and scheduled to be groomed again on Jan. 19. Conditions: Excellent.
INTERSTATE PARK TRAILS - St. Croix Falls, WI
Not recently groomed, but there is light snow over old tracks. Conditions: Fair.
LADYSMITH HIGH SCHOOL LIGHTED XC TRAIL - Ladysmith, WI
2 more inches of snow fell during January 15th and the LHS Trail was groomed in the evening. A diagonal track was set. Conditions for skating and striding were excellent afterwards. The lights are on from dusk until 10:00 p.m
LEISURE LAKE TRAIL - Trego, WI
Groomed and track set on 1/5. Expected to be groomed 1/18 or 1/19 Conditions: Good
LOG JAM TRAIL - Phillips, WI
Groomed on 1/16 and scheduled to be groomed again on 1/19 . Conditions: Excellent.
LOST LAND LAKE TRAILS - Hayward, WI
Tracked and groomed on 1/10. Conditions: Very Good.
LUTHER HILLS - Minong, WI
All trails groomed and tracked on 1/15 Conditions: Very Good.
MECCA TRAILS - Mercer, WI
Trails in very good condition with 6" of new snow Sunday. More snow in forecast and trails will be groomed again Friday, 1/19.
MONTREAL TRAIL - Montreal, WI
Groomed and tracked regularly or after 4" of new snow. Conditions: Excellent.
MT. VALHALLA VALKYRIE AND TEUTON SKI TRAILS - Washburn, WI
Trails groomed 12/29. Conditions: Good at that time.
MT. ASHWABAY SKI TRAILS - Bayfield, WI
All trails groomed on 1/18. Conditions: Very Good.
MUKWONAGO SKI TRAIL - Hayward, WI
Scheduled to be groomed on 1/19.
NAMEKAGON SKI TRAIL - Namakagon, WI
Groomed and tracked 1/17. Conditions: Excellent.
NEWMAN SPRINGS SKI TRAIL - Price County, WI
Trails groomed and tracked on Jan. 17. Conditions: Excellent .
NORDIC WOODS SKI TRAIL - Stone Lake, WI
To be groomed on 1/19. Conditions: Very good.
NORTH END TRAILS - Cable, WI
3.5km and 6 km loops packed and tracked on 1/16. New snow over packed trail. Conditions: Good, but somewhat soft. Expected to be groomed on 1/18 or 1/19.10km loop not open.
OXBO SKI TRAIL - Price County, WI
Groomed and tracked on 1/17. Conditions: Excellent.
PALMQUIST'S THE FARM - Brantwood, WI
Groomed and tracked on 1/17. Conditions: Excellent.
PATTISON PARK TRAIL - Superior, WI
Groomed on 1/17. Conditions: Good.
PENOKEE MOUNTAIN SKI TRAILS - Mellen, WI

Entire trail groomed on Jan. 16. Conditions: Excellent. Track better than usual.
SOLBERG LAKE TRAIL - Phillips, WI
Groomed and tracked on 1/8 and scheduled to be groomed again on Jan. 19. Conditions:Excellent .
SPOONER CITY TRAIL - Spooner, WI
Groomed on 1/15. Conditions: Very Good .
SUPERIOR MUNICIPAL FOREST - Superior, WI
Trails tracked and groomed. All trails open.
TELEMARK SKI TRAILS - Cable, WI
Most trails regroomed 1/15-16. Expected to be regroomed 1/18 or 1/19.Conditions: Very Good.
A shuttle service is available leaving Telemark at 11:00am. on Saturday morning, and arriving at 00 at 11:30. The driver waits until 11:45 before heading back up to Telemark.
TIMBERLAND HILLS SKI TRAILS - Cumberland, WI
All trails were groomed and tracked after 3-4" of fresh snow last weekend. Trails in good condition.
TIMM'S HILL/HIGHPOINT SKI TRAILS - Ogema, WI
Groomed and tracked on Jan. 16 and scheduled to be groomed again on Jan. 19. Conditions: Excellent.
TOMAHAWK LAKE SKI TRAIL - Barnes, WI
The Tomahawk Trail was groomed Tuesday, 1/16/2001. Conditions are great.
TOTOGATIC TRAIL - Minong, WI
Groomed and track set on 1/16. Conditions: Excellent.
TRADE RIVER TRAIL - Fredric, WI
Groomed and tracked 1/16. Conditions: Very good.
TREGO LAKE SKI TOURING TRAIL - Trego, WI
Groomed and track set on 1/5. Expected to be groomed 1/18 or 1/19. Conditions: Good.
ULLER TRAIL - Iron Belt/Montreal, WI
Grooming suspended until Jan.16 as trail crew has been called out of town for World Cup events in Salt Lake City. (Too bad for them)
VEIKKO SKI TRAIL - Marengo, WI
Back country trail. Ungroomed.
WEST TORCH RIVER SKI TRAIL - Clam Lake, WI
Groomed 1/17. Conditions: Good.
WINTERGREEN SKI TRAILS - Price County, WI
Groomed and tracked on Jan 16. Conditions: Excellent.
WOLVERINE NORDIC - Ironwood, MI
Grooming is being done every day. 17km groomed for skating and striding. 162 " total snowfall to date. Conditions: Excellent.
