Dave and Barb,
Black River Forest is hard to beat for a beautiful classical ski amongst the
large pines and hardwood forest. Not too far from Black River is the Levis
Trow Mound Trail (http://www.worba.org/nasti/) I've never been there but I
know that they groom very well.
If you want to travel further, you can see some of the other trails
available on our website at http://www.north-stars.org/wiscmap.htm
Good skiing to you.

Subject: [XC] Please enlighten me
Hi,
We are familiar with classical skiing in several areas, but not northwest
WI. From our limited experience, we find Blue Mounds, Black River State
Forest and Escanaba Trail to be among the best for a wonderful, idyllic
skiing adventure on intermediate trails. Probably Black River was the best
of these.
Can someone advise as to how some of the northwest trails would compare, or
suggest a trail that is even better than what we have so far experienced?
Thanks,
Just a note, that on 2/12 skiing Escanaba Trail near Boulder Junction was
marvelous! Large falling snow flakes, quiet and peaceful woods, snow-laden
evergreens, few people, great exercise made for a spiritual refreshing day.
Could have been more difficult and more downhills, but overall - marvelous.
