Title: RE: [XC] skis for toddlers?

I put my daughter on skis at age 2, and she loved 'em from the very beginning.  She used very short (about 2') Fischer waxless skis purchased from Sepp.  They worked well, especially on tracks and groomed or hardpacked areas. We didn't start using poles until last winter when she was 4.

Yes she fell down alot, but she also had alot of fun.  I fondly remember a very cold, snowy afternoon at Elver when she skied for an hour and didn't want to stop.  She cried when I carried her to the car to get warm.  A friendly chap in the parking lot, who remarked that I shouldn't try to push her too hard when she's young, was amused to learn she didn't want to leave!

Last winter, she skied her first Barnebirkie and has been pestering me all summer about the next one.  This year my daughter (now 5) is moving up to bigger skis, and my 2-year-old son inherits her old skis.

Praying for snow,
Tim Crisp
