Kudos to Ned, the MadNorSki volunteers who helped out, and the Madison Parks grooming crew for doing what it took to make the first Elver Race of the season happen Friday night. It was great to be on snow again (without having to burn gallons of gasoline to do so)! For those of you on this list that might be intimidated to come out and participate in the Elver race series, let me just say that it's NOT just a bunch of hard-core racers tearing up the trails at a blistering pace -- there are also people out there like me (who has had his share of "last place" finish times at Elver) who are doing it because (1) it's a fun way to get in 5 or 10K, and (3) you'll probably push yourself just a bit to ski at a pace more elevated than you would if you just went out and skied on your own (always a good thing to do once in a while, especially if you're training for other longer races or tours). I think we're fortunate here in Madison to have a facility like Elver, with a warming house, lighted trails, and a nice variety of terrain -- and the Elver races are a great way to enjoy it all even more. So whether you're a MadNorSki Club member or not, come on out and experience an Elver race. You'll be glad you did... _______________________________________________ http:www.MadNorSki.org XC mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.danenet.org/mailman/listinfo/xc
