Hi,

This is your friendly neighborhood list admin with an important
public service announcement that is, unfortunately, unrelated to
the subject of this list.

A recent email message has reminded me how important it is to
know where to go for security information. The offending message
attempts to scare the recipients into sending them money for
information on how to make their computer secure.

There are two places to go for real security information:

        CERT: http://www.cert.org/

and the web site of your anti-virus vendor, such as:

        <http://www.mcafee.com/anti-virus/default.asp>
        <http://securityresponse.symantec.com/>

To most of you, I now apologize for the noise. To the few of you
who are not exactly sure what I'm talking about, you should
install antivirus software on your computer right now. You can
buy it at any computer or office supply store.

Cheers,

Joe
