CROSS COUNTRY SKI TRAIL REPORT
TRAIL CONDITIONS
Updated: March 22, 2002
Warming into the weekend. No new snow expected. Lots of snow in the woods and on the trails. The season is far from over!
ABR TRAILS
Ironwood, MI
3/19 - Excellent today. Most trails were groomed early this morning. Grooming daily.
AFTERHOURS CROSS COUNTRY SKI TRAIL/BRULE RIVER STATE FOREST
Brule, WI
3/15 - 16" of new snow on 3/14. Groomed on Friday, 3/15. Conditions: Good, but soft.
AMERICAN BIRKEBEINER TRAIL
3/15 - 15-18 inches of fresh snow in the Cable and Hayward areas.
Groomed from OO south to the Fish Hatchery and OO north to McNaught Road for skating and classical skiing.
ASHLAND SKI TRAIL
Ashland, WI
3/3 - Trail is tracked and groomed and in excellent condition.
BEAR CROSSING SKI TRAILS
Medford, WI
3/15 - Due to the latest snow and rain storms that have passed through our area, it has become impossible to groom our trails, so for now they will be closed, until further notice.
BEAVER BROOK SKI TRAIL
Spooner, WI
Substantianal snowfall has resulted in a large number of trees hanging over the trail making it impassable for grooming. Once the trees are removed the trail will be groomed.
BLUE HILLS TRAIL
3/20 -With fresh grooming during a big-flake type of snowfall, skating was excellent this afternoon (1st day of Spring, March 20) -- good edge control and effortless, ball-bearing fast conditions! WoW!! Most of the EastSideTrail was groomed with a Tidd Tech Wednesday, March 20. Previously, the entire trail system was groomed March 15 & 16.

LADYSMITH HIGH SCHOOL LIGHTEDXC TRAIL
Ladysmith, WI
The Ladysmith High School Lighted Trail received about 1" of new snow on March 20th. The skating lane was touched up on the 21st and a track for striding was reset in areas that had drifting snow. Conditions are very good and the lights are on until 10:00 p.m.

3/15 - Conditions: Good/Fair. Base is 8" and 12 of new snow. Track setting was not as good as anticipated but O.K. for some pleasant skiing. Amnicon Falls is providing excellent snow shoeing opportunities.

SOLBERG LAKE TRAIL
Phillips, WI
Conditions: Fair to good; groomed & tracked March 16.
SPOONER CITY TRAIL
Spooner, WI
Groomed 2/25. 2-3 inches additional snowfall since grooming.
SUPERIOR MUNICIPAL TRAILS
Superior, WI
3/6- Fair condition, no new grooming is planned until there is new snow.
TELEMARK SKI TRAILS
Cable, WI
3/20 - Approximately 40 KM of the Telemark/North End/Kortelopet 65 KM trail system
have been groomed for skating and classic skiing. This includes the
Birkebeiner Loops, Tony Wise Trail, John Bauer Trail (to Kortelopet split),
Kortelopet Trail, 4 KM of the Sven Wiik World Cup, Berard Connection, and
North End Trails.
Nearly two-feet of snow fell on last Thursday/Friday. All trails were
groomed Saturday morning. The Birkebeiner Loops, John Bauer and inbound
Kortelopet trails were groomed this morning. Trails and tracks are in
excellent condition on the trails groomed today, fair to good for the other
trails. Snow is forecast for tonight and tomorrow. Trails will be groomed
following the snowfall.
TIMBERLAND HILLS SKI TRAILS
Cumberland, WI
Lots of snow! After a snowfall of well over a foot last Thursday night, the trails were groomed and tracked. A few of the interior trails remain ungroomed, but the majority of the system is done, including the Lighted Trail. Conditions are somewhat soft due to the grooming of such a large snowfall, but very nice. Future conditions will depend on the temperature and any new snowfall.
TIMM'S HILL/HIGHPOINT SKI TRAILS

Conditions: Very good; to be groomed and tracked March 15; lighted night skiing is available on Wednesday and Saturday or for groups upon request.
TREGO LAKE SKI TOURING TRAIL
