I think that this trail clearing idea would be great fun. It could be a fall
activity to keep our ties going from the Nordic Rendezvous between our two
clubs.

Our trail clearing people aren't Paul Bunyan types but they do wear hiking
boots, wool and have granola bars hanging out of their back pockets.

Wow, Greg! You really put us to shame - offering to bring folks from the
Twin Cities to help clear ski trails in the Madison area when even us
MadNorSki's can't get it on our social calendars.

I've noted with fascination that North Star has a trails sub-division. I've
imagined that these people are strapping guys, direct descendents from Paul
Bunyun, who were raised in the North woods, have wood burning stoves in
their homes, and spend their free hours orienteering and cleaning trails on
Sierra Club expeditions. I'm interested in people of foreign cultures; are
my stereotypes totally inaccurate?

Thanks again for the offer of trail help in 2003. I'll definitely volunteer
to help with the "party" part of it. Perhaps we could even end the day of
trail fixing with a dry-land workout on our best sledding hill at Elver
Park. Hope to see you before then!

Greg,

MadNorSkis never turn down a free offer! We'll even supply beverages!

We do have a trail clean-up project at Elver this Saturday at 9am but next
year
might be better for you.

For those that can make a showing this Saturday, we will have access to the
shelter so we'll gather there for instruction and distribution of implements
of
destruction. The city has done more aggressive whacking of brush than in
previous years so we should be able to widen the trail in critical areas
more
effectively this year. We'll have goodies for all. For those of you that
spend countless hours skiing at Elver, a couple hours on Saturday is a cheap
investment.

See you Saturday,

Jimmy
