AMERICAN BIRKEBEINER TRAIL - Cable, WI
Week of January 20, 2003 - Very cold temperatures expected to continue through the week. Approximately 45K of the trail is snow covered. A few spots have low snow, mostly in the pine tree areas. There is about a 2 inch packed base on the trail. Skiing is fair to good. Suggest bringing rock skies. The snow surface is very uneven and undulating due to low snow cover. The surface is becoming extremely hard due to the volume of skiing and lack of snow. At this time the surface can not be reworked or tilled because of low snow.

BLUE HILLS TRAIL - Bruce, WI
Reported on: 12/20/2003
New Snow: 3 "
Comments: The Blue Hills area received about 3 inches of fresh snow Saturday morning (Jan. 18). Your best skis are in order at Audie Flowage http://www.centurytel.net/bluehills/audie.htm where a good alternative exists to the sparse snow on the trail system -- skiing Audie today (Monday, Jan. 20) was very good to excellent for both skating and striding (although cold temperatures and relatively fresh snow meant slow going). The west side trails were rolled for the first time on Saturday, but could certainly use more snow. For adventurous souls who are desperate for variety & have ROCK skis, it is possible to ski there.
