Hey Madnorskis, I know that there is some competition between MN and WI, but some of the best skiing conditions around can be found right in the Twin Cities. 4 hours from Madison, maybe a little more for some folks. If you decide to come, focus on the Three Rivers Park District Trails....Baker, Elm Creek, and French. Three Rivers Parks grooms these trails every night from 5pm to 1am and sometimes do 5 passes. The trails are always fresh in the morning. There are many other trails around. Check skinnyski for reports.
