You need an HMC for now. xCAT doesn't yet support SDMC, although it is in our plans for next year.

What do we need to get decent xCAT hardware management functionality on low end POWER7 servers ? Do we need an HMC or do we need the newer SDMC that seems to be replacing HMCs ?
