In the short term, custom template and custom table is probably your best bet. We do allow schema 'plugins' with the recommendation of a table name like 'x_<tablename>' to use names xCAT will never conflict with.
For iSCSI, we have iscsi table and do some target/initiator coordination using the common data found there. For FC we may one day provide a similar facility, but have not yet.
