Lissa, Bruce, We’ve heavily modified the genimage script to do some more things that are better for us at EMSL. So I need to run through the xCAT 2.7 genimage script since the one we have is based off of 2.6. However, we are running a postgresql database backend, the SNs are diskless ramdisk nodes.
The modifications to the genimage script include pulling from remote repositories instead of local CD iso files, pulling the root file system tarball from nfs instead of http (more secure that way). However, we need to clean that part up a bit before we try and get anything ready to give anyone else, and the layers need to agree. Let me get back to you after I take a look at the latest version of genimage. The install of the service node metapackage xCATsn* does run xcatconfig -d which initialize the database and could cause the problems you are seeing. This is not suppose to run during the build of an image, or if the /etc/xcat/cfgloc file exists on the SN, which indicates you have setup a database besides sqllite. Are you seeing this while building the SN image on the MN, or while installing on the SN. Is this a diskfull or diskless Service Node image? Are you running a database besides sqlite on the MN when you build the image. You can check with lsxcatd -a , or check for /etc/xcat/cfgloc. I guess we need you to outline your image build process, to find out why this is happening. Thanks. Lissa K. In this case, can't we just put the ip address in the site attributes? Wouldn't that be more useful?
