Hey all,
I made some progress on debian installs using xcat and wanted to
make sure it was documented somewhere searches might find it. So, in
response to my missing files issue:
# nodeset node001 install=debian6.0.6-x86_64-compute
Error: Install image not found in /install/debian6.0.6/x86_64
Error: Some nodes failed to set up install resources, aborting
The thing to do is download the debian netboot tarball (available here
(http://d-i.debian.org/daily-images/amd64/daily/netboot/), for testing),
untar it and copy debian-installer/amd64/initrd.gz and
debian-installer/amd64/linux to
/opt/xcat/share/xcat/install/debian/debian6.0.6Images/ (where you
replace 6.0.6 with your version, obviously)
Caveats:
One big one: I haven't successfully booted a node using this yet. My
hardware falls over on USB discovery. I'm going to try to find some
other hardware and give it a shot with that. If that doesn't work, its
on to other versions of debian....
Finally - I sent in my contributor agreement yesterday. Should I expect
to hear back from someone about it, or is having sent it in sufficient
for me to start submitting code changes?
Steve
