The /install/postscripts/syslog postscript sets up syslog during installed or you can run it using updatenode -P. It will setup rsyslog for Redhat6 automatically. If you have a hierarchical setup then you can set the site table svloglocal attribute to 1 and the logs will be kept on the service nodes. If you want the logs to be kept local to node and not on the Management Node or Service Nodes, then you will have to write your own postscript to do that. You could probably use a lot of the logic of syslog and replace syslog with your postscript in the postscripts table. Name it something different, or the next upgrade of xCAT will overlay your work.

On RHEL 6 there was a change and rsyslog is replacing the syslog, how can i define in the xcat postscripts to setup rsyslog to write also to local /var/log/messages ?
