Technically speaking, it is the 'default' behavior, but there is probably tons of documentation and 'it is the way it has always been done' that work very much against default behavior ever manifesting...
In general, I recommend not setting installnic or primarynic at all anymore... unless an OS plugin requires it.... At least in the x86 support we auto-detect from firmware behavior by default (nothing specified). I think the POWER support still needs a hint though... I think we should seek out and remove any documentation suggesting that those values be set to something, unless it's particularly specific documentation. There's actually quite a few fields that I commonly see populated with explicit effort that are better left blank in 99% of cases....
