I'm installing xCat in a Linux guest under z/VM. The linux is a SLES
11SP2. I download the latest xCat-core and xCat-dep files.
xcat-core-2.7.6.tar
xcat-dep-201302051638.tar
When I ran the install I received the following.
......
Restarting xCATd
ERROR: The tftpd was not installed, enable the tftp failed.
..done
httpd has been restarted.
insserv: Service network is missed in the runlevels 4 to use service xcatd
insserv: Service syslog is missed in the runlevels 4 to use service xcatd
insserv: Service sshd is missed in the runlevels 4 to use service xcatd
xCAT is now running, it is recommended to tabedit networks
and set a dynamic ip address range on any networks where nodes
are to be discovered. Then, run makedhcp -n to create a new dhcpd
configuration file, and /etc/init.d/dhcpd restart. Either examine sample
configuration templates, or write your own, or specify a value per
node with nodeadd or tabedit.
I'm unsure why the tftpd was not installed, but if I try to manually
install - │atftp-xcat - Advanced Trivial File Transfer Protocol (ATFTP) -
TFTP server
┌Problems──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐
│
│││installed xCAT-server-4:2.7.6-snap201211272157.noarch obsoletes
atftp-xcat provided by atftp-xcat-0.7-10.s390x│ │
So I don't know what to take from this. Is the tftp server no longer
required?
I went to continue on, but the xcatd is not running, so I don't want to
just blindly go forward without a little insight as what may be going on.
Thanks for any assistance.
