There are a couple of issues here. One is you should not be installing
both the service node metapackage and the management node metapackage
xCATsn-4:2.8-snap201302181705.x86_64
xCAT-2.8-snap201302181705.x86_64

But to answer the question and it is in the release notes under
Restrictions and Known Problems. You cannot install 2.8 on SLES 10, AIX
6.1, or Redhat 5 ppc64 , see defect 3426 below and the release notes.
https://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/xcat/index.php?title=XCAT_2.8_Release_Notes

SLES 10 does not contain a perl dependency (perl library
IO::Uncompress::Gunzip )that the xcatd requires in 2.8. In 2.8.1 when it
comes out, you will be able to install, but will not be able to use genesis
discovery.

Subject: [xcat-user] xCAT 2.8 and SLES 10 SP4?

Does xCAT 2.8 work with SLES 10 SP4? I tried the procedure we had used
previously with older versions of xCAT (2.5.1) and SLES 10 SP3 and I am
getting conflicts from the repo:
