So, we are actually doing it. On monday we will cut over to git as our
xcat source code repository. It will still be hosted at sourceforge. If
you don't currently maintain a local svn repository of the xcat source,
this change won't affect you, because the location for downloading the xcat
rpms isn't changing
(https://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/xcat/index.php?title=Download_xCAT
or https://sourceforge.net/projects/xcat/files/ ).

If you *do* currently maintain a local svn repository of the xcat source,
on monday we will remove commit access to the sourceforge svn repo, do the
final push of changes to the sourceforge git repo, and open commit access
to the git repo for the same people that had svn commit access. The git
repo can be seen at
https://sourceforge.net/p/xcat/xcat-core/ci/master/tree/ and that page
also gives the commands that can be used to clone a local repo. You can
clone the git repo now, if you want to get a head start, but it won't be
the the master copy of the xcat source until end of day monday.

If you have any questions, ask them here.

Currently, we have both, but the git is considered to be exploratory at the
moment. I'm currently merging both ways, but unless some objection is
raised, our plan is probably to make the svn read-only after 2.8.2 release
and just do git.
