You should go the 2.7.7  or 2.8.2 .   I would probably go to 2.7.7 first
since your version of xCAT is so old.  Those will also put you on a
supported version of xCAT.

We currently have a RH Linux Enterprise server 5.3 running Xcat 2.4. In
addition we have  12 x compute nodes currently running RH 5.4  I would like
to upgrade these compute nodes to rh 6.2 workstation, will 2.4 Xcat support
this release of RH?
