Hello,

I wondered if someone could please advise me on how best to update rpms on my
compute nodes via xcat. In fact I have a number of updates and one new rpm
installation to do. I've downloaded all the required rpms and have a test
solution on one of the compute nodes. I'm just considering how to generalize
this in xcat.

I'm looking at installing Xvfb on our compute nodes for a user. The rpm called
xorg-x11-server-Xvfb does not exist in the standard RHELS distribution, however
it is possible to provide a solution via the following recipe:

rpm -Uvh openssl-1.0.1e-16.el6_5.7.x86_64.rpm
openssl-devel-1.0.1e-16.el6_5.7.x86_64.rpm
rpm -Uvh pixman-0.26.2-5.1.el6_5.x86_64.rpm
xorg-x11-server-common-1.13.0-23.1.el6_5.x86_64.rpm
rpm -ivh xorg-x11-server-Xvfb-1.13.0-23.1.el6_5.x86_64.rpm
rpm -Uvh libXfont-1.4.5-3.el6_5.x86_64.rpm

The only new installation here is xorg-x11-server-Xvfb. All the other rpms are
upgrades of existing packages installed on the compute nodes. I still need to
verify that that this solution (to provide Xvfb) does work for sure. On that
assumption, could you please advise me how best to integrate these changes in
to the xcat compute node image. For example can we potentially use
/install/post/updates on the xcat server?

Best regards - David.
