I have a desktop board with a Yukon ethernet and I did not have any problems installing recent Fedoras, although I never tested it with any RHEL6.

The driver is probably "sky2". The installer should detect it and build it into your initrd. Check if the driver is loaded with "lsmod". Or if not loaded, run modinfo to see if it's available in the distro. I just did a "modinfo sky2" on a RHEL6.5 box and it found it, at version level 1.25.

Possibly, the driver is loaded OK but your system is using Consistent Network Device Naming, and your interface is named something other than eth0. Use ifconfig or "ip link" to see what interfaces are recognized.

Hi Lissav

The xCAT version is 2.8.1
The Ethernet is: marvel Yukon Ethernet

I think the issue is with initrd.img file, it doesn't provide the driver for the Ethernet and thus it's not detected. I found a patched file for initrd but it was for Fedora, do you have any information around this issue ?

We also do not formally support deploying laptops. What is your hardware? The list of hardware supported is here.

It is possible someone on the mailing list has used xcat in some manner to deploy laptops.
