"Usually" the problem with the LVMs is that the disks have been put into
Dirmaint outside of the xCAT startup scripts.

When you wiped out the persistent 100 disk, the disks were probably left
in the directory, etc.
Summary of the xCAT startup process for that LVM:
The xCAT startup code looks in the DMSSICNF COPY for the volids and then
does a query in the xCAT machines for any disks in the 200-2FF range. If
they match then the script assumes that everything is fine and tries to
mount the LVM. If the persistent data disk was cleaned then the LVM
doesn't mount.
To reset things the disks need to be removed from xCAT userid and
Dirmaint.
In your case running the two execs in the X_SMAPI download for each disk
should do it, then you can restart xCAT.
On a related note we are adding documentation on backing up files in the
LVM to your workstation. Also how to back up the xCAT tables into the LVM
so you can save them to your workstation.

Subject: [xcat-user] LVM not being created.
I have gone back to the beginning with xCAT (z/VM 6.3) recopying xCAT 100
disk. Reformatted 4 disks in xcat .. Dirmaints extent control looks good.
I don't see any available space in the UI (configure - files) and the only
sub-directly is UPLOAD..
In provision disks I see the volumes, but they don't show any free space.
I must be doing something wrong, but what?
