The definition of node attributes: 'installnic' and 'primarynic':
installnic: The nic will be used for OS deployment.
primarynic: The nic will be used for xCAT management
But in reality that we always set 'installnic' and 'primarynic' with same
value or just use 'installnic', and it's always enough to meet our
requirements. But the problem we can see is that even we thought that set
'installnic' and 'primarynic' to different value is USELESS, but xcat team
has to maintain the complicated code logic to handle any possible setting,
and customer has to tolerate the confusion of using 'installnic' and
'primarynic'. So why not deprecate 'primarynic', and recommend peoples to
use 'installnic' only? xCAT team is doing something to refine the code of
handle 'instalnic' and 'primarynic'.
Does anybody oppose to deprecate 'primarynic' attribute? If yes, show out
your use case.
Thanks
Best Regards
