Hi,
xCAT has had functions for installing and configuring chef server,
client and workstation from 2 years ago. However, since it is not used
very much by our users, we have not tested for a long time. It may be very
well working though. So if you decide to use it, we hope you also
reference the chef's own web site if you see problems.

Thanks,
Ling

Subject: [xcat-user] Functions supporting chef

Hi,
I'm a newby to xCAT+chef, so I have a few question about that.

1. I've read document for that (
http://sourceforge.net/p/xcat/wiki/Adding_Chef_in_xCAT_Cluster/), there I
found some information like the following
    (1) how to install chef server, workstation and chef-client (using
postscript or softwarekit)
    (2) how to set chef-client seeing appropriate chef-server (chdef <node
with chef-client> cfgmgr=chef ...)

then could i make sure that there is no other function supporting in
xcat, else?
If there are the other functions support chef's resource where can i
find the documentation for that?

2. is there any problem if xCAT integrated with chef-server installed the
other ways(not postscripts or chef kits)

Thx
