I'm trying to get a pair of Mellanox top-of-rack ethernet switches
(SX1024s) configured in xCAT 2.8.5 (we're running RHEL5 for the current
baseline). I'm new to xCAT and I'm following the documentation and how-tos.

This is a small cluster but I need to try and get auto discovery working so
that nodes can be switched out without the user having to configure MACs.

When a node boots up, it gets the boot kernel and says "commencing transmit
of discover packets".

In the log on the MN, I'm getting:
Error communicating with sw7: Unable to get MAC entries via either BRIDGE
or Q-BRIDE MIB

This seems to be coming from MacMap.pm when it tries to get $mactoindexmap.
The OIDs it's trying don't produce anything when just trying snmpwalk with
those OIDs.

I've obtained MELLANOX-MIB.txt from mellanox and installed it in
/usr/share/snmp/mibs/. Since then I think I've found that this only applies
to management of the switch.

There is also a report that Mellanox does not expose the MAC addresses in
snmp? That would be surprising, since I've seen Mellanox widely deployed in
cluster installs.

At this point I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if there is an
issue working with these switches? Possible workarounds?

Any other info that would help?

Thanks very much!
