The old one looks rather drastic. But the graphical idea of having the X combined with a cat works nicely. I just wouldn't use bones for the X, as this is not a pirate cat, but more a superhero cluster manager. So, what about the serious looking cat face with some kind of superhero mask shaped like an X (well, not trying to borrow too much from the X-Men, but that comes to mind when thinking of the X-Cat).
