If your compute node gets the ip from dhcpd running on the xCAT MN, you change the name and IP of compute node with following steps:

1. rename the compute node: chdef <node> -n <newname>
2. change the ip <-> <node> mapping in the /etc/hosts
3. run makedns <newnode>
4. run makedhcp <newnode>
5. run makeconservercf <newnode>

Thanks
Best Regards

What is the correct procedure to both rename and re-IP a compute node in
xCAT 2.10 on CentOS 7?
