esxi6 deployment continues to work in the same way. E.g. nodeset <noderange>
install=esxi6-x86_64-hypervisor
(or netboot= for stateless, no genimage needed).
Essentially, esxi doesn't have enough customization generally to warrant the
whole osimage thing, so it didn't get put into that. Frankly I wish we had
manifested the concept as a filesystem structure rather than metadata in a
database. Maybe one day…

Has anyone had any luck deploying ESXi 6.0 using xCAT? All I am trying to do
is deploy the hypervisor on a server. My xCAT server is at 2.10. These
instructions are old and don't seem to support the new osimage method of
deployment:

Does anyone know of an updated doc? Tips or tricks? A lot of googling hasn't
