Hi Will,

I want to confirm the following information:

1, Does the xcat management node OS is SL 6.6 ?

2, Do you use the mounted /install directory from other server?

3, After xCAT 2.10 upgrade to xCAT 2.12, is xcatd stopped?

4, When you start xcatd, you hit the new issue ?

service xcatd start
Starting xcatd mount.nfs: access denied by server while mounting
XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:/install
Error mount -o rw,nolock XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:/install /install
Error: Cannot find the OS image SL-x86_64-install-pvfs on the osimage
table.
Error: Cannot find the OS image SL-x86_64-install-kvm on the osimage table.
Error: Cannot find the OS image SL-x86_64-install-service on the osimage
table.
Error: Cannot find the OS image ol7-x86_64-install-service on the osimage
table.
in.tftpd: no process killed
                                                           [ OK ]

Sure.  We are running SL 6.6.  The issue with makedhcp happens every time
we run it.  The commands appear to work without error, but the leases file
is never modified and entries have to be manually added or removed.
Unfortunately, I was not the one who upgraded to 2.10, so I cannot say when
this behavior started exactly.  I do know that it worked prior to 2.10.

As for the mount, it definitely started after I upgraded to 2.12.  I read
in the documentation that this is the default behavior.  However, it was
not immediately evident how to disable it.  To reproduce, we simply have to
start xCAT (we are transitioning to OL7, so the image errors are OK):

service xcatd start
Starting xcatd mount.nfs: access denied by server while mounting
XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:/install
Error mount -o rw,nolock XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:/install /install
Error: Cannot find the OS image SL-x86_64-install-pvfs on the osimage
table.
Error: Cannot find the OS image SL-x86_64-install-kvm on the osimage table.
Error: Cannot find the OS image SL-x86_64-install-service on the osimage
table.
Error: Cannot find the OS image ol7-x86_64-install-service on the osimage
table.
in.tftpd: no process killed
                                                           [ OK ]

This is also causing some issues during reboots as it appears that it wants
to still mount atop itself.

/install is already mounted, as this is our MN:

df -h /install
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/vg00-install
                      1.0T 35G 989G 4% /install

Let me know if you need any more info. Many thanks.

We are running xCAT version 2.12.  It was recently 2.10.  I upgraded
thinking that this would resolve an issue with  makedhcp not
       updating
dhcpd.leases.  Not only did it not resolve the issue, but it caused
       an
additional one in that xCAT now wants to mount /install atop of
       itself
puon start-up when it is a separate partition on the disk.  I did
       look
through the documentation with little success.  Any help would be
       appreciated.  Thanks.
