Hi Jarrod

Thanks for bringing this up.

I think the issue occurs because we do not have a stable version of the xcat-dep repository hosted on xcat.org.
Each rebuild of the xcat-dep updates the public repo for xcat-dep so we encounter this mismatch mode that you describe.

I'll look into creating a stable version of the xcat-dep repo that will only be updated when we release, instead of during mid release.

Victor

Agile does not mean that the current set of packages that a user downloads is ok to be broken.

xcat-dep was updated with a new genesis base that would only work with 2.12.2, and 2.12.2 was not yet released.

If this sort of stuff is going to happen, we need to merge dep and core so that such a screw up won't happen.  It makes a lot of sense anyway.

xCAT development is embracing Agile. It has a regular release for each 6 weeks. It's not too long to wait for a new release before take the new dependency packages. So we recommend to use the xcat-core and xcat-dep which have been tested and accounted in the release notes.

Thanks
Best Regards

FYI, prior to releasing 2.12.2, the change to xCAT-genesis-base to move /bin/restart was pushed for everyone, breaking discovery for all users.  2.12.2 is the only one that works with the current xcat-dep.

This was an unpleasant surprise…
