the packimage will update the "<rootimgdir>/etc/shadow" and  hence the /etc/shadow in the provisioned diskless node according to your passwd  table , you can rerun packimage and check whether the file is updated

hi ,all
    today I try to use the xcat 2.13.7 to build a diskless image
and  I forget to restore the default table from /opt/xcat/share/xcat/templates/e1350/
so the passwd table is empty
 
when I build the diskless image ,the /etc/shadows show here :
[root@node24 ~]# cat /etc/shadow
root:cluster:13880:0:99999:7:::
bin:*:16925:0:99999:7:::
daemon:*:16925:0:99999:7:::
adm:*:16925:0:99999:7:::
lp:*:16925:0:99999:7:::
sync:*:16925:0:99999:7:::
the correct one should be as below
[root@node21 ~]# cat /etc/shadow
root:$5$TtGRLeW1$owEXNhmE2l1GkF58.SD1C4KR6E7nRTALs7kG9Xxpl//:13880:0:99999:7:::
bin:*:17110:0:99999:7:::
daemon:*:17110:0:99999:7:::
adm:*:17110:0:99999:7:::
lp:*:17110:0:99999:7:::
sync:*:17110:0:99999:7:::
shutdown:*:17110:0:99999:7:::
 
now I have restore the passwd tables ,and try to run genimae /packimage base on current status ,but not work ,if I don't want to remove the netboot image and rebuild from crash  ,is there any way to make the root password to "cluster" ? 
 
I found this because when I run rcons to login the node failed ,thanks for everybody that take time to take a look at my questions ,thanks
