Well, if you always run it from the same management server, then 169.254.95.118 would be a viable address if the usb Ethernet interface on the management node is working, in addition to any external usage of the management server.

We use a single server to perform the xCAT, storage cluster quorum node, and the management server for the GUI. We also use the IPMI in shared mode on basically all of our systems. The GUI/management system attempt to monitor the xCAT server itself, since it is a member of the storage cluster for quorum, and reports a problem with xCAT integration. The problem is that the xCAT server can’t reach its own IPMI port. We keep the IPMI IPs on a different subnet, and the xCAT machine has an IP on that subnet and can reach other IPMI IPs, and other systems with an IP on that subnet can reach it, but I guess something about sharing the same physical port prevents this from working. Ideally, I’d just set rinv for the xCAT server to use “-I open” for ipmitool, but there doesn’t seem to be any way to do this. Does anyone have a clever way around that, or maybe I’m missing a way I can ask for this to happen with -I open rather than -I lanplus and an IP address? -- ____ || \\UTGERS, |---------------------------*O*--------------------------- ||_// the State | Ryan Novosielski - novos...@rutgers.edu || \\ University | Sr. Technologist - 973/972.0922 (2x0922) ~*~ RBHS Campus || \\ of NJ | Office of Advanced Research Computing - MSB C630, Newark `' _______________________________________________ xCAT-user mailing list xCAT-user@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/xcat-user _______________________________________________ xCAT-user mailing list xCAT-user@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/xcat-user
