Hi there, I have been successfully deploying CentOS7 to a VM with a defined MAC address up until recently. The problem now is that discovery fails due to the following message:
xcat.genesis.minixcatd: The request is processing by xCAT master... xcat.genesis.minixcatd: The request is already processed by xCAT master, but not matched. xcat.genesis.dodiscovery: Beginning echo information to discovery packet file... Could no open device at /dev/ipmi0 or /dev/ipmi/0 or /dev/ipmidev/0: No such file or directory Could no open device at /dev/ipmi0 or /dev/ipmi/0 or /dev/ipmidev/0: No such file or directory xcat.genesis.dodiscovery: Discovery packet file is ready. xcat.genesis.dodiscovery: Sending the discovery packet to xCAT (10.40.115.100:3001)... xcat.genesis.dodiscovery: Sleeping 5 seconds... Obviously I don't require ipmi for a VM. I've searched through the xCAT tables to remove all ipmi/bmcsetup references related to this node - I've even rebuilt the xCAT management node to make doubly sure that all tables were empty in order to add back only the minimal information required. Is there something more specific I should be looking at removing from the definitions below? # lsdef mgt Object name: mgt authdomain=mcri.edu.au chain=standby domaintype=activedirectory groups=mgt,vm ip=<removed> mac=<removed> netboot=pxe nfsdir=/install nfsserver=xcat nicaliases.eth0=mgt mail time nicaliases.eth1=mgt-pub nicaliases.eth2=mgt-data nichostnamesuffixes.eth0=-mgmt nichostnamesuffixes.eth1=-pub nichostnamesuffixes.eth2=-data nicips.eth0=<removed> nicips.eth1=<removed> nicips.eth2=<removed> nicnetworks.eth0=Management nicnetworks.eth1=Pub13Net nicnetworks.eth2=Data nictypes.eth0=Ethernet nictypes.eth1=Ethernet nictypes.eth2=Ethernet otherinterfaces=mgt-pub: <removed>,mgt-data: <removed> ou=<removed> postbootscripts=otherpkgs postscripts=syslog, remoteshell, syncfiles, setupntp, confignics routenames=default13NetRoute servicenode=xcat # lsdef -t group vm Object name: vm chain=standby members=mgt xCAT version 2.14.5.
