Could you unset nodehm.serialport for that node and see what output shows?

Subject: [External] [xcat-user] xCAT 2.16 / CentOS 8.2 stateful install PXE
issues

Hello,

Using xCAT 2.16 on CentOS 8.2 x86_64 I did successfully update my stateless
osimages from CentOS 8.1 to CentOS 8.2.

For my UEFI booting nodes to successfully boot, I installed the following
patches to workaround the elilo 8MB kernel limit :

-
https://github.com/xcat2/xcat-dep/blob/master/elilo/elilo-xcat-3.14-5.noarch.rpm

-
https://github.com/xcat2/xcat-core/pull/6772/commits/76a57eaae28b651560ea2da5fa55298a3a38c581

I'm tried to do the same with stateful nodes :

- on a physical node, the PXE install did at first fail after the fetching of
the initrd (stalled at the switch root step - then host did reboot).
I then reverted to a 8.1 osimage to make sure nothing was broken : it worked I
then retried a 8.2 osimage (changing nothing) and it did succeed.

Now I'm trying the same with a centos-8.2 stateful image install but on a
VMWare VM (which pxe boots in bios mode) : a similar (but without any
message) issue occurs : process is stalled after the initrd fetch - see
attached screenshot)

I know Centos-8.2 is not listed as an officially supported OS but do you have
any clue of what I could try to fix this PXE issue ? (booting the VM in UEFI
mode did not solve anything) ?

Thansks for your help
