Hi Casandra, basically, this is what our script does, see below.
function purge_node () { logger nodepurge $NODE } the node that I was having trouble building, i purged the node. Sorry, I might misstated the term 'profile', essentially i purged the node from xcat database. the file that has been altered ( put back with a 'stock' file from an RPM), is the file (highlighted) below. [root@hpc3-xcat-1 system-files]# lsdef -t osimage centos7.8-x86_64-install-compute Object name: centos7.8-x86_64-install-compute imagetype=linux osarch=x86_64 osdistroname=centos7.8-x86_64 osname=Linux osvers=centos7.8 otherpkgdir=/install/post/otherpkgs/centos/x86_64 otherpkglist=/install/custom/install/centos/centos77.otherpkgs.pkglist partitionfile=s:/install/custom/partition/partition.sh pkgdir=/install/centos7.8/x86_64 *pkglist=/opt/xcat/share/xcat/install/centos/compute.centos7.pkglist* profile=compute provmethod=install synclists=/install/custom/install/centos/compute.synclist.1 template=/opt/xcat/share/xcat/install/centos/compute.centos7.tmpl My initial thought was that any file that has been touched, package upgrades would not alter them. I can use a different file name for the package list file, which I might do to avoid future issues. The newly replaced file had a basic list of packages ( about 320 rpms to install or so). I had a backup, I was able to restore from backup. Thanks for your help again and great support. --imam On Wed, Oct 7, 2020 at 7:01 PM Casandra H Qiu <cxh...@us.ibm.com> wrote: > Glad to hear the problem is solved. can u let me know which template file > you modified and which host profile you removed? > > > Thanks, > Casandra Qiu > > ................................................................... > Casandra Hong Qiu > Phone: (845) 433-9291, t/l 293-9291 > Office: Building 8, 3-B-04 > cxh...@us.ibm.com > > > > [image: Inactive hide details for Imam Toufique ---10/07/2020 09:50:02 > PM---thanks.
